Free SEO Tools

With the recent disappearance of some valuable free SEO tools such as Yahoo site-explorer and some SEO tool providers turning to (often expensive) paid-only subscription plans we decided to dig deep and find the best SEO tools that are 100% free. After all we’re not all connected to large SEO service companies with deep pockets or SEO professionals per se.

So after some research here is the list of the top best, totally free, SEO tools of the current moment. (So no 30-day trials etc)

List of Free SEO Tools

#1 SEOBook tools

SEOBook is the creator of what must be one of the most popular tools among SEO’s: The SEO Toolbar FireFox extension.  Some of the functionality and metrics included in this tool: Google PageRank, incoming link count, traffic estimates, rank-checker, on-page keyword analysis, nofollow link highlighting and more. The only downside is that the toolbar is only available for FireFox.

Furthermore they offer a whole bunch of web-based SEO tools.

#2 SEO Power Suite offers a software suite called SEO Power Suite. The suite consists of four programs, LinkAssistant, Rank Tracker, SEO SpyGlass and Website Auditor.

At a first glance it isn’t clear wether the Free license is time-limited, but this is in fact not the case.

The free license has some limitations but is still an excellent addition to your toolset! Check out the limitations of the free version here and then give it a spin!:

#3 Internet Marketing Ninjas web-based tools

Internet Marketing Ninjas is an SEO services company that offers a wide range of services as well as a wide range of free web-based SEO tools on their website. Some of the available tools: broken link checker, Keyword Density Analysis tool, on-page optimization tool (for in-depth page SEO analysis), Side-by-side SEO analysis tool (compare your domain against your competitors), social acitivity tool and more.

The excellent functionality combined with a very clean design makes this a site worth bookmarking.

#4 Backlink Watch

Simple web-based tool for finding your (competitor’s) backlinks. Don’t get too distracted by all the ads, this is actually a very decent tool!

The site-explorer is a good alternative to the once popular Yahoo Site  Explorer. When you sign up for a free account (paid plans start at $79 monthly) you’ll have access daily to 15 Requests, 500 Results / request, 3 Standard reports / day, which in practice is quite limiting. As it is such a powerful tool we include it nonetheless.

Please share your favourite free SEO tools in the comments section below and I’ll consider it for this list.
